06 Oct CLINIC UPDATE December ’22
As the 2022 season draws to a close, we can rejoice in the fact that after the misery of the 2020 and 2021 seasons, it’s been pretty much business as usual. on the clinic front.
Dates and details are coming in thick and fast for ’23 so let me up date you:
Jericoacoara 11-21 Jan ’23
Yes we are back after a hiatus of three years and how good that will feel.
It’s arguably the easiest and most friendly place to get into down the line wave sailing.
Fabulous surroundings, Brazilian vibe, amazing food … and as for the cocktails!
There are a couple of places left.
TOBAGO Feb and Match ’23
This jewel of a Caribbean island is fast becoming a favourite – hence I’m running 3 separate general skills weeks this winter. One in Feb and 2 in March. There are a few places left.
3-10 Feb – 2 places
17-24 March FULL
24-31 March 4 places
As a coaching spot it’s hard to beat.
The lagoon environment makes everyone feel safe.
You can stand up almost everywhere – which makes people really feel like going for stuff.
Also perfect for cracking and improving waterstarts/early planing etc.
The 15-22 kn trades is the ideal wind strength for planing training.
Using sails 5.5 up to 7.5 (generally) you enter moves powered but not out of control
And you won’t find a place more relaxing and beautiful to hang out.
The two wave sailing weeks in Kerry, 6-13 and 13-20 May are both reading full.
But I do get cancellations so if you want to be put on the subs bench, please get in touch and let you know if a place comes free.
Just released are dates for my 2 back to back Rhodes courses
13-20 and 20-27 June
These tend to fill up very quickly so do strike while the iron is steaming.
Rhodes is classic bump and jump territory. Mildly choppy near the beach and rolling swells further out.
GREAT kit – the best of all the centres we visit. This year they’re majoring on Tabou and Duotone as well a selection of Fanatics and JPs.
Donegal Sept 23
Exact dates are yet to be confirmed but I will be running 3 X 5 day courses once again in Donegal in September.
They are essentially ‘learn to …’ or ‘improve your …’ wave sailing courses but I do also focus on general skills – because there are also some great flat water areas.
First bite of the cherry goes to last year’s candidates – but if you’re interested in a place please get in touch and I’ll give you first refusal on the spots that aren’t taken up.
Mauritius/Dahkla ‘ Oct/Nov ’23
No Mauritius in 2022 due to the Hotel closing down temporarily, for a re-furb, and therefore the ION centre as well. However, I have been in touch with club ion and there’s a chance that they will be running a mobile centre from the beach in 2023. And alternative hotel accommodation is available.
If they have a full complement of kit and rescue service, then we will go ahead. We’ll make a decision in early 2023.
If not I’m keen to run one or 2 weeks in Dahkla in Morocco. It’s windy free ride heaven in a huge flat water lagoon – and the potential for waves on the other side of the dunes in the Atlantic Ocean.
That’s about it for now dear Windies. More dates and details to be posted shortly.
